Dead Space 2 Trailer

As another year comes to an end, we’ve compiled out top ten games of 2010. We must say it was a pretty stellar year for video games. Of course it comes down to personal opinion, but checkout our list and let us know which games you think were glaring omissions or which didn’t deserve to make it in the top 10.

10. Singularity – This game went under the radar for most people, perhaps due to a lack of marketing. It was actually a great game, a FPS similar to Bioshock in some ways – that you gain powers as well as use guns to mow down countless enemies. The multiplayer was actually pretty fun too!

9. Bioshock 2 - Perhaps the original was better, but I still had a lot of fun playing through Bioshock 2 and the multiplayer mode wasn’t horrible, it was actually kind of a nice change of pace after playing a lot of COD MW2.

8. Alan Wake – This game reviewed really well but did not sell many copies, perhaps due to coming out around the same time as Red Dead. I really enjoyed this game, lots of great set pieces, there was plenty of suspense and a good story line that kept you unsure of what the hell was actually happening.

7. Halo Reach – A solid Halo game, actually my favorite in the series.

6. Dead Rising 2 – So much zombie hacking fun to be had! Creative use of weapons and power ups, and so much to do that you’ll never get it all done in one play through.

5. Super Mario Galaxy 2 – Just like Super Mario Galaxy 1, except better. That’s enough for most.

4. Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood – Another game that isn’t too different to it’s predecessor, but different enough to make it a must play. Checkout the multiplayer mode for a very different multiplayer experience.

3. Call of Duty Black Ops – (Multiplayer) While I felt the single player campaign was too linear and often frustrating, the multiplayer is a vast improvement over COD MW2. I can’t get enough of it.

2. Mass Effect 2 – Great story, a competent cover based shooter with a lot of RPG elements and a somewhat open world (galaxy) to explore. Many, many hours of fun to be had.

1. Red Dead Redemption – Grand Theft Auto set in the wild west, what’s not to like? (Well apart from the first tedious hour of rounding up cattle). Awesome story driven shooter with an ending that you will care about! The Undead Nightmare DLC tipped it over the edge in securing the top spot this year in my opinion.

Honorable mentions to Vanquish, Rock Band 3, Mafia 2 and Donkey Kong Country Returns.

Description
The king of swing is back and he’s hungry for adventure (and bananas)! A new 2D platformer in the mould of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong have to battle the evil Tikis in order to restore peace to DK Island.

Donkey Kong plays a bit rougher than Mario though, so as well as jumping on bad guys’ heads you’ll also be able to use his signature ground pound to disorientate your enemies. All the other classic elements of the original games are back too, including mine cart levels and vine swinging.

The game’s no pushover, so it’s a good job you can call on Diddy to help you. If you’re playing on your own you get to use his jetpack to help you, but if you’ve a friend to hand they can take control and then ride on Donkey Kong’s back if they get to a tricky bit.

• Gorilla Games: The classic Donkey Kong Country series returns with all-new 2D action and all the platform action and cartoon fun you’d expect of Mario’s oldest ally.
• Uncle and Nephew: Find a special barrel and you can bring Diddy Kong into the story and use his jetpack to reach the places Donkey Kong cannot go.
• Buried Treasure: Help feed DK’s hunger for stolen bananas, as well as mountains of secret extras, including whole new levels and hidden KONG letters.
• Co-op Kapers: Play on your own or let a friend take control of Diddy Kong when he’s around. Both can play at once or Diddy can take a time out if things get tough.
• Monkey Magic: Two separate control systems for veterans and beginners – play the whole game with just a single remote or add in the nuchuck for extra control.
